Kerala Blasters FC demonstrated their strength of character by beating Delhi Dynamos FC after coming from behind at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Saturday. The visitors made a strong start to the contest and went into the half-time interval with a 1-0 advantage. However, goals from Deependra Negi and Iain Hume in the second period meant that the Blasters picked up all three points by the end of the night. Both goal-scorers from the Blasters spoke to indiansuperleague.com shortly after the game and shared their thoughts on the game. Here are the excerpts.

Deependra, how are you feeling right now?

It’s amazing. I can’t describe my feeling right now in scoring on my debut and it’s an amazing feeling. Most of all, playing with these kind of teammates, management and in front of this amazing audience it’s a dream come true.

Iain, how important was this win?

Every win, every game is massively important for us. (In the) first half, we were as bad as we’ve been all season and we spoke about it inside. But you look at the second half. It was a completely different game. The guys came out with a will to win. We did everything we possibly could to stop them playing the football that they play week in, week out. To have a young boy come on, who just turned 18, and score with his first professional touch.

Deependra, what can you tell us about your match preparations?

Well I have to keep (this) up, if I have to come up with some amazing stuff and play with a bunch of amazing players. I have to be at my best.

Iain, what must Negi be feeling after his debut and goal?

It’s the best feeling in the world. To get it off your back. He’s proved it every day in training by the way. This is no fluke. He is going to be a top top player in this league. But he needs more time. He knows. And he is one of those players who keeps his head down and works his socks off and he got everything he deserved and thankfully the Hero of the Match award as well.

Deependra, can we expect a lot more from you this season?

Probably, because I have the best support at the back.
