Odisha FC will play their first-ever Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) match when they face Jamshedpur FC, on Tuesday, away from home at the JRD TATA Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

Ahead of the landmark match, young striker Daniel Lalhlimpuia spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview and opened up about his team’s preparations and more. Here are a few excerpts from the interview.

Preparations ahead of the first game.

We started pre-season earlier than everyone else and it’s almost two months since our pre-season started. Right now, our team is looking very good and we are ready.

On expectations from the new fans.

Expectations would be high, but we just want to take this as any other season for us. Hopefully with the fans cheering for us, we will have a good season.

On learning from a senior strikers like Aridane Santana.

It's always good to have a quality striker around you from whom you can learn in every single training session. Playing with (people like) him is always a learning process for us as young players. Hopefully in the coming seasons I will be able to replicate what we have done in the training session, in the game. So, I think it's good for us to have him.

On playing for a new team like Odisha FC in the Hero ISL

It's a new team, a new challenge. I think it's going to be an exciting season for us. Hopefully we can do something good in the upcoming Hero ISL 2019-20 season.
