Despite losing only three of their ten Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2018-19 fixtures, Kerala Blasters FC have endured a disappointing campaign and look set to miss out on a place in the final four should they continue to leak goals late in matches. The Blasters will now host FC Pune City in a must win game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

Ahead of an important fixture for both sides, indiansuperleague.com caught up for an exclusive interview with the Blasters midfielder, Courage Pekuson. Here are a few excerpts from the same.

Thoughts on Kerala Blasters favorable record against FC Pune City.

Actually, we are planning to take every match as a win. We want to win every match. So, we are not watching the statistics of previous matches and all of this. We want to just go in and get the three points which is very much needed for us.

Is the short recovery time a worry for the team?

I don’t think so. It will have a little effect, but we are ready for this. This is our job so as I said, we are ready, we recovered very well so we expect to win.

Your opinion on Kerala Blasters FC reaching the top four.

Now it’s tough but I believe we can do it. It’s football. It’s a game of wins, losses and draws. This time we are not getting wins but we’ve been trying our best, playing good and I believe the rest of the matches will make the difference for us. We’ll play our hearts out to make sure we get to the semi-finals.

Talk us through the changes in the team.

Actually, as a team, we are trying in every match to improve, to play well and then get results. For these past few days, we’ve been working hard because I can say as a player of the team, these results are not what we wanted. So, we’re planning on training our best. So, we can give our 100%. I think this is also why things are changing, everybody is mentally and physically right for this team.
