Ferran Corominas converted a late penalty to ensure FC Goa earned a 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Monday. With the point, the Gaurs go top of the table while the Blues stay seventh with two points from as many matches.

After the fixture, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Goa defender, Carlos Pena for an exclusive post-match interview. Here are the excerpts:

Thoughts on the match?

When we play, we know Bengaluru is a very tough team. It doesn’t matter what happened in the past. We came into the game with a lot of confidence because we played a very good game against Chennaiyin, and tried to do the best we could. And finally, we got one point.

Pretty tight game in the first-half. What was the half-time team talk like?

They had the possession of the ball in the first-half. But I think we defended very well. They didn’t have many chances. We couldn’t play as per our style but its normal. Bengaluru are a very good team. In the second half, I think they played long passes and we kept the ball better. And finally, we achieved one point.

Do you see it as two points lost or one point gained?

One point gained. They are a very good team, I repeat. The game was very tough for both teams. So, with this point, we are very happy.

Ahmed Jahouh is back in the team. How do you think his game was?

Jahouh tried to do his best. It’s good to have more players available.

Next up is NorthEast United. How do you go from here?

We go with the same mentality as in every game. We want to achieve three points. We are now with four points. We are happy with our start of the season and we will try to get all three points in the game against NorthEast.

From the Blues’ side, the first goal scorer on the night, Udanta Singh shared his take on the result. Here are the excerpts:

What are your thoughts on the match?

We did everything right but finally in the last minute, we conceded the penalty. So, bad luck for us.

Very few shots on target for both the teams. How do you think the encounter was?

Every time we face Goa, we know what to expect. They try to keep the ball, so do we. We created good opportunities in this match.

On conceding the late penalty.

It happens. It’s football. Sometimes you want to do something and it doesn’t happen.

Tell us about your goal.

I’m happy with my performance and I’m looking forward to keeping it up.
