FC Goa fell short in front of Bengaluru FC’s resilient all-round display to lose 2-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The Gaurs’ formidable attack failed to fire, as they were undone courtesy of strikes from Edu Garcia and Dimas Delgado. The visitors’ defensive mainstay Bruno Pinheiro tried to organize Goa’s backline but failed to pick up their first clean sheet of the season, yet again. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the Portuguese for his take on the loss and the mindset going forward. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the game?

Well, we played a very good game and we knew that we are going to face a very strong team. There’s no question that they’re in the first position as they have a very strong team which plays wonderfully and tactically. They managed to control our strongest points and in the chances they had, they scored. They scored from a set piece and the last one from the rebound. They countered with luck on their side but anyway, our goal is to be in the first four. This is our first objective. We still have many games and we can take these points back in the next four or five games.

What went wrong with the attack today?

They (Bengaluru) are a very smart team and they played well tactically. They managed to close the space tactically and they did their homework on where we were strong. This game could have gone both ways but unfortunately, luck was on their side and they managed to score two goals, one from a rebound and one from a set piece. That’s it, that’s the story of the game.

Do you think the rain affected your style of football?

Not at all. Our style of game doesn’t change in any kind of situation. If it rains or if it’s hot, if it’s 5 degrees or 40 degrees, that’s our game and we stick to it.
