Delhi Dynamos FC will be on the lookout for their first victory of the season when they face off against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. The Lions are winless in their 11 outings so far this season and will be desperate to put an end to the unsavoury record in what will be their last match of the 2018 calendar year.
Before the match, indiansuperleague.com met Delhi midfielder Bikramjit Singh for an interview. Here's what he said.
Why hasn’t the team won yet?
It's true that we haven’t won, but the football that we have been playing in the league is, in my opinion, the best football. We are playing like a team and giving our 100%. We haven’t converted our chances into goals, but that’s also a part of football. We will work hard and train to rectify that. So, I hope, in the next matches we’ll score more.
How does it feel returning to Chennai to play against Chennaiyin FC?
Of course, I am very happy because last season I played a lot of matches here and were champions. In all the matches I played last season, I enjoyed myself a lot because the fans are great. They made songs for all the players last season and when I heard them singing it in the stadium, I was motivated and got more confidence because of it.
Thoughts on the match.
Of course, this match is very important for us and we’ll work very hard because the break will be on after this and all the players, coaches and staff will go home for the holidays. In the situation we are in, the mood is a bit off. I will only say this - my team and I will give our 100% for the Delhi fans, the medical staff and coaching staff who put in so much hard work for us. We want to give them a New Year and Christmas gift.
