Andrew Barisic challenges Delhi goalkeeper Kristof Van Hout.Kerala Blasters FC’s striker Andrew Barisic is a familiar figure on the domestic football scene. The Australian striker of Croatian origin enjoyed a fairly successful stint with East Bengal under Trevor Morgan and is now reunited with his former mentor at the Hero Indian Super League franchise team in Kochi. The 28-year-old player who has played in Germany, Australia and a few countries in Asia besides India, is yet to open his account in the tournament but provided the vital assist to help Milagres Gonsalves score the winning goal in the earlier fixture. Barisic started in today’s goalless draw against Delhi Dynamos FC and after the well contested stalemate, came across for an exclusive conversation with indiansuperleague.com. Here are some excerpts:What are your thoughts on the game? It ended in a 0-0 score line. Is that a fair reflection?Yes, I think it is a fair reflection. We dominated most of the game. We had a lot of chances, and I guess we didn't take them. We know we opened them (Delhi Dynamos) up a lot. We played really well throughout the whole game, but again, we didn't take the chances we should have taken. You had a goal ruled out for offside. What did you think about that?I know, in the spur of the moment, we'd thought it's not offside. We'll have to see, maybe it was the other player or maybe it was me. If it's me, then it shouldn't be offside. But if it was the other one, then fair enough.Do you think Delhi Dynamos came here to get a draw? No, I don't think they came to get a draw. They opened up, they attacked as well. They went for it and we went for it. But it was just a stalemate. No one could find the back of the net. What did your coach tell you at half-time?Just to take our chances. See, we were playing well. We opened them up every time but we just couldn't find that last ball. Everything was ‘almost almost’. We never actually got the goal which we needed. And I think if we had got that one goal, we would have taken the match. How was your partnership with Iain Hume today? It was good to play up front with ‘Humey’. I think we work well together. Again, we didn't finish the chances which we needed to. But I think it was a good combination. We worked well. There were a couple of moves from the wingers that we did well. And we play on Thursday again, so we need to be scoring. How does it feel to be playing at home finally? It's good. The last time we won. But I hope we can only improve. I think we've been playing our best football at home. And it's because of the fans - you see the atmosphere here in Kochi - it just keeps you going. And makes you give you give your 120%. It's good!
