Jamshedpur FC ended their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 campaign on an impressive note as they dominated an inexperienced Bengaluru FC side 5-1 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday.  Bengaluru took the lead through Semboi Haokip, only for Augustin Fernandes to level terms things up just before the half-time whistle. Jamshedpur hit their stride in an incredible second-half display to seal a dominant win, with goals from Michael Soosairaj, Carlos Calvo and a brace by Pablo Morgado.

From Jamshedpur's side, a delighted Augustin Fernandes joined indiansuperleague.com for a post-match interview. Here are the excerpts.

Thoughts on the match.

Today, it was amazing. The 5-1 result shows it. We are very happy to get a positive result because this is our last home match and we wanted to end the season with a win. So, everyone is happy.

Talk us through the incident between you and Subrata Paul that led to Bengaluru FC's goal.

I think it was just a miscommunication between myself and (Subrata) Paul, but I am happy that I scored at the other end and the scores were equal and from there, we took it forward nicely in the second-half.

Talk us through your goal celebration with Subrata Paul.

I think I wanted to celebrate with him because their first goal was a mistake by the two of us. So, it was a big relief for me as well as him.

Thoughts on Jamshedpur FC's Hero ISL 2018-19 campaign.

Personally, I joined in January. So, I feel it was a good season for me. Coming back from an injury after a long time and getting in the team was amazing. I am happy just to be on the field actually and to complete two 90-minute matches is an amazing feeling.

Message for the Jamshedpur FC fans.

The fans are amazing. I think we should appreciate them. Even though they know that we have not qualified for the semi-finals, they came out in large numbers to support us and I think we gave them a good match today and everyone is happy on their way home.

From Bengaluru's end, goal scorer Semboi Haokip shared his thoughts on the disappointing result. Here's what he said.

Thoughts on tonight's match.

The first XI played and worked very hard throughout the season and today, those who haven't played a lot got a chance. We came here to win the match but we lost. So, we are disappointed with the result.

What was different in the two halves today?

In both the first and second half, we wanted to start strong and keep our shape but they (Jamshedpur FC) are also a very good side. We received a red card and they became stronger. I am disappointed that we lost but I am very happy about the first goal because it has been a long time for me since I last scored. I always want to score for my club. I target at least one goal and by the grace of God, I scored and I am happy about that but disappointed that we lost.

How excited are you for the semi-finals?

From the start of the season, the whole team and the staff are working hard. So, we are very happy that we've already qualified and we are looking forward to giving our best in the semi-finals.
