Match 2 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 between Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru ended in a goalless draw. One of the highlights of the fixture was the Hero ISL of Ghanaian icon Asamoah Gyan, who had an eventful match. Despite not scoring, he saw a goal turned down due to an offside and a shot come off the crossbar.

Speaking to indiansuperleague.com in a post-match interview, Gyan shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts:

On your Hero ISL debut.

It was a good game. We knew we were playing against a top side. We managed a point here. I think it is a good result for us. We had a couple of chances if we could have put them away, we could have won the game. But this is football. It was just the first game and we are looking forward to the second game.

How prepared are you for the season ahead?

I have been here for a month. I still have a lot of work to do in regards to my fitness. I am getting used to my teammates and other things. It's just the first game. I need to just go on working on my fitness.

Expectations for the first home match at Guwahati.

Yeah, I can't wait to play in front of the home fans. It's very good to play in front of the home support. Some fans came here to cheer us on. At least, when we are playing at home we just have to meet them up.

From Bengaluru's end, Ashique Kuruniyan, who was making his debut for the Blues, spoke about his experience. Here's what he said.

On the first match as a Bengaluru FC player.

The match was pretty good and we had a few chances. We lacked the finishing but managed to keep a clean sheet. So, it was good.

Your thoughts on tonight’s draw?

This was just one match; we have to work hard now and prepare well for the next match (against FC Goa).
