Chennaiyin FC will be on the road to play their final match of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 season against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Thursday.

Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Chennaiyin youngster Anirudh Thapa for his thoughts on the match, the season, and more. Here are the excerpts.

Thoughts on the season.

Obviously, we got good experience because last season we won the league and this season we are bottom of the table. So, it is a learning experience for us because life sometimes gives you a really bad hit and this is it. So, this is like a learning experience for me and for many others.

Thoughts on FC Goa as an opponent.

Obviously, FC Goa are a good team. This season also they’re playing a good style of football and they are obviously a good team. So, it will be a tough match for us because they have qualified for the knockout stages and they will obviously come all out because they have to give their best and we will be focussed.

Do you think you can upset FC Goa’s rhythm?

We’ll give our best. We can’t say that we will, as they are in good form and we are in bad form, but we will still give our best. Each player is motivated and we just need to be focussed and play our 90 minutes.

Thoughts on the Chennaiyin FC fans.

They are our 12th man. They are standing with us throughout the season. Last season, they were there for us and this season we are at the bottom of the league and they are still supporting us. They come all the way for away matches and in home matches they are supporting and chanting for us. It's because of them that we get the motivation to play. So, a big thank you for supporting us and please keep supporting us so that we have something to play for.

Thoughts on your individual season.

I got good support from the team. I was going out for the national team camp and playing for two different coaches who have two different styles. So, they treated me like family and supported me on and off the field. So, a big thank you to them also.
