With just a win away from sealing their qualification to the semi-finals of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19, Mumbai City FC face off against ATK at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday. Mumbai, however, will be wary of the fact that they are experiencing a bit of a slump of late, having lost their last three outings on a trot.

Before the crucial match up, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Mumbai goalkeeper Amrinder Singh for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts.

Mumbai City FC are a win away from qualifying. How is the mood in the camp currently?

The mood in the camp is good right now. I know our performances in the last three matches have not been great but the team is not unhappy. It is a positive environment and now, we've had 10 days in our hand to prepare for the next match. So, we are prepared for it. I think we will do better in the upcoming match.

Is there any special plan to turn Mumbai City FC's fortunes around?

There are no special plans as such. There is positivity in the camp and that is important. We will focus on the head coach's plans and train well. As I said earlier, we had some time on our hands to train well and we will try our best against ATK.

How does it feel to play with Lucian Goian and Subhasish Bose in the defence?

It's quite easy as Lucian Goian and I have been playing together for the last 2-3 seasons. Anwar (Ali), Joyner (Lourenco) and even Subhasish (Bose) are there in the defence. They listen to me when I say something and it is easy for us to communicate as well. I feel, because of our friendship, we are doing better defensively.

Mumbai City FC was knocked out by ATK in 2016. Will that play a role in the match?

It doesn't matter to us as it happened two seasons ago and anything can happen in football. We will focus on the match, try to play well and listen to what our head coach says. It is a special feeling to qualify for the semi-finals and our focus will be on winning the match.
