Mumbai City FC crashed out of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 despite a 1-0 win over FC Goa in the second leg of their semi-final fixture at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Tuesday. The 5-1 scoreline in Goa's favour in the first leg eventually proved too much for the Islanders to overturn.

After the match, Mumbai goalkeeper Amrinder Singh shared his post-match reaction with indiansuperleague.com. Here are the excerpts.

What was the strategy tonight?

We knew what mistakes we made in the last match and we came here with the mindset of not wanting a draw in front of all the FC Goa fans and of course, the fans that travelled from Mumbai. We wanted to give them a good match. We tried to score as early as possible and put them under pressure. We got the goal but after that, their defence was solid and they are an organized team. So the mistakes we made in the second half of the first leg have led to us being knocked out tonight. Today, I’m happy because we played well and gave a good performance to the fans, all who were here as well as the ones watching us on TV.

Thoughts on the season.

It’s a weird feeling because the whole season we played well from the start till now. I think in the second half of the first leg, our organization was bad and we conceded goals. It’s okay. Now, we will move forward and think about the next season, learn from this one and try to rectify the mistakes we’ve made and become stronger from it.

Why do you think the team was unable to score more goals?

I think Naveen Kumar was fantastic in both of the legs. For me, he’s the best goalkeeper right now. We created a lot in the first leg as well. I think the main problem was converting chances and that’s something we’ll look at improving on next season.

A message for the fans.

I’ve played in many places, but Mumbai City FC for me is special because the fans always travel and support us. So, I’d like to thank them. You guys were great at home and supported us even away from home. Thank you so much for that.
