Emiliano Alfaro scored his third goal and picked up his second Hero-of-the-Match award after guiding NorthEast United FC to the summit of the 2016 Hero Indian Super League on Wednesday evening. His 79th-minute strike scripted a 1-0 win over FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi as the Highlanders registered their third win in four matches. The 28-year-old Uruguayan forward had also scored a brace in NorthEast's away 2-0 win against FC Goa. Alfaro spoke to indiansuperleague.com after his team's second away win this season and shared his thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
You were a man down at half-time. What did the coach say that you came out all guns blazing?
It was a very difficult game as we lost one man early in the match. However, we played like a team and fought hard. Finally we received a gift, the goal.
Yusa Katsumi found you in a sea of bodies out there, how did you find space and how do you rate Yusa's pass?
Every time we play together and when we find space we try to go ahead. I think the goal was a fantastic team play.
Four games in just over a week. Now you are travelling to Delhi to play your fifth game in less than two weeks. Your coach says he doesn't like to change the team too much. Is fatigue going to be a factor going forward?
All the players like to play as much as they can. If we have to play the same way till the final, we will fight. We also have players that can replace anybody. We will try our best at home and away too.
