Jamshedpur FC take on Bengaluru FC in a tough home fixture at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday. Antonio Iriondo’s men have won their last two outings in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 on a trot and will be eager to make it three in a row at the expense of the defending champions.

Speaking to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview ahead of the match was Jamshedpur FC midfielder Aitor Monroy, who opened up about life in the Hero ISL as well as their upcoming challenge. Here are excerpts from the interview.

How confident are Jamshedpur FC heading into the match against the reigning champions Bengaluru FC?

We have got three points from each of the last two games, it gives confidence to us, but now we have a different game. It will be (for) three points, but for us the work we did in the pre-season, that is very important.

On facing Bengaluru FC, who are chasing their first win of the campaign.

I think they (Bengaluru FC) have a good squad, good players. They have a Spanish coach, and some Spanish players, they try to play good football. I think it is too early to say whether any team is playing good or bad. It's the beginning. In the first few matches, it will be different as it takes time to get to the desired fitness level. For the moment, I think they are playing well, they have a good squad. Playing against them will be difficult for us.

How are you and other Spaniards in Jamshedpur FC adjusting to the Indian conditions?

I have played in Spain, Israel, Romania, different leagues, different kind of football. I always tried to adapt to the different styles of play. For me coming to India is an experience and I will try to give my best.

How has your Hero ISL experience been so far?

It has been a great experience for me, I like the ambience in the stadium, we (Jamshedpur FC) have amazing supporters. In both the matches, we had full stadiums, for us it is very important to feel like we are all together. The people inside the stadium give us the power and energy (to play well).

Your experience of playing in Jamshedpur FC’s home ground and a message for the fans?

The message is to continue (supporting Jamshedpur FC) like this. We are very happy with them, they push us a lot, it is important that we are all together, with our game and our skills we try to give our best to win the three points every game. The more important thing is to try and learn every day and become better the next day.
