FC Pune City have endured a terrible start to the season and will be eager to turn things around when they host Jamshedpur FC on Wednesday. The Stallions will be looking for their first victory of the season and climb their way out of the bottom of the table with three points against the Miners.

Before the match, indiansuperleague.com interviewed Pune midfielder Adil Khan. Here are the excerpts.

Thoughts on this season’s form compared to last season.

Last season was a great season for us. We made it to the semi-final and for FC Pune City, it was the first time they reached the semi-final. But this season, it didn’t work the way we wanted. Whatever we did during the pre-season didn’t work. The philosophy that the coach had come with didn’t work for us, but we are working hard, still working. I know we’re struggling and are bottom of the table but we are trying to come out of this situation and give something for the club and for the fans.

Thoughts on Emiliano Alfaro’s departure to ATK.

As far as Alfaro is concerned, he was a great performer for us last year and even this season for us he was doing well. We are definitely going to miss him. His hard work in front of the goal and in the attacking third was amazing. We’re going to miss him but I think Iain Hume is coming back in the coming days because he’s doing his fitness. He’s looking good. I think Hume will come and help us to come out of this situation. We are looking forward to having him for the remaining matches.

Is the lack of squad depth adding pressure to the team?

It won’t put that much pressure on the team because now Hume is coming back. Marko Stankovic is getting fitter. So, there are players who can fill the boots of the other players who are not available for the coming matches and then we have a good team. But the only thing is it’s not going our way. The way we scored against Kerala Blasters FC, we conceded soon after that. We scored against Chennaiyin FC and again we conceded 3 goals soon. The second-half was not good for us. So somewhere we are losing concentration and individual mistakes are costing us. If we control those things, I think we’ll get a victory very soon.

Does FC Pune City’s favourable record against Jamshedpur help boost morale?

Of course. Even they’ll be under pressure because they have lost both the matches last season against us. It will be there at the back of their mind thinking that FC Pune City is also a tough team to beat. The way we are playing right now is looking good, we are keeping shape, we’re more organized, more so than the matches we have played. I think Jamshedpur FC have a good team, they’re playing good, they’re doing well. They’re also an organized team and I think it’s going to be a good match for both the teams. Let’s see who wins.
