Adil Khan opened the account for the Stallions with a powerful header, which Diego Carlos and Rohit Kumar later added to. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the hosts’ midfielder, who scored his fourth goal of the season. Here are the excerpts.
Your thoughts on the match?
It was a very tough match. We had lost points in the last two matches. So, this time we converted goals and that is how we got the victory and the three points.
What do you think about FC Pune City’s chances of qualifying for the semi-finals?
It’s not done yet. Still a long way to go and there are still matches to be played. We’ll focus on our fitness and our game. So, we’ll stick to our plans, go step by step and we’ll try to win all our matches, whatever we have left at our home ground.
Who do you think displayed a stand-out performance today?
Today I think all the players played well, whoever was on the field. They all gave their 100% and for me, Diego (Carlos) was the outstanding player. He scored a goal and had an assist in today’s match, so Diego was the standout player today.
Your views on the players who made their debut for Pune today?
Of course, Marko Stankovic is a good player and we need to combine with him more. He has trained with us for 2-3 days and if he combines with the team, he’ll do really great. It’s good to have him and it will strengthen our squad. These two players will boost our team and they will give us strength in the defence and the attack. Lolo (Manuel Jesus) plays in the defensive midfield position as well as a defender and as a stopper. So, it will give us strength in the defence, and with Marko, it will give us strength in the attack.
