Kerala Blasters FC played out a goalless draw with Odisha FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Friday. Eelco Schattorie’s side had the better chances in the match, but a failure to find the right finish meant that they walked away with just a single point on the night.

For defender Abdul Hakku, though, the experience was an unforgettable one as he played almost the entire match for the home side. The 25-year-old shared his delight in an exclusive post-match interview with indiansuperleauge.com. Here are the excerpts:

An unfortunate injury for Jairo (Rodrigues) in the third minute. Were you mentally prepared for the game?

First of all, I am so happy to get my first match here. And I am so sad about Jairo. He got the injury. We had many injured players. I was so excited to take the field.

Odisha have been scoring in every game they played. How did you’ll keep a clean sheet?

This is our first clean sheet. We did very well in defence. We are so happy to keep a clean sheet.

Kerala Blasters have many injuries. How do you think the international break will help when it comes to player recovery?

Many players are injured. Now the break is coming and hopefully everyone will be back (by the time it’s over). They will come back strong.

How do you feel about your debut performance here?

I’m very happy. So happy to play in front of this big a crowd. I’m very happy.
