Match-week 10 of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 came to a conclusion on Sunday, and it featured some surprise results, resounding victories, and another hat-trick along with the usual dose of entertainment and drama. NorthEast United FC showed great spirit to come up with the upset of the week as the Highlanders, Bengaluru FC and FC Pune City all scored thrice in their respective matches. Kerala tasted defeat for the first time under their new management, ATK could not get rid of their hoodoo at Pune, and an Indian bagged a hat-trick for the first time this season. David James loses for the first time after taking over as Kerala head coach: Jerry Mawihmingthanga and Ashim Biswas scored against Kerala Blasters FC as the two-time finalists lost for the first time this season under new head coach James. In their second match against FC Goa, last season’s finalists were again on the wrong side of a 2 – 1 score-line, this time at home as Ferran Corominas and Edu Bedia scored for the Gaurs.

Blues do the double over Islanders as Chhetri scores against former club: Bengaluru FC inflicted a 3 – 1 home defeat on Mumbai City FC after Sunil Chhetri bagged a brace against his former side before Miku also got on the score-sheet. Leo Costa was the sole scorer for the hosts.

Highlanders upset Chennaiyin as Doungel becomes NorthEast’s first hat-trick scorer: NorthEast United FC rode on Seiminlen Doungel’s hat-trick to race into a 3 – 0 lead against the 2015 Hero ISL champions. The Highlanders ended up winning 3 – 1 after Anirudh Thapa pulled one back for the southerners. The hat-trick was the first scored by a NorthEast player as well as the first this season by an Indian.

Defending champions lose at Pune yet again: FC Pune City beat ATK 3 – 0 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune after goals from Adil Khan, Diego Carlos and Rohit Kumar. ATK had no answer to the Stallions’ deadly attack as their woeful run of never having beaten Pune away continued. The defending champions are also the only team not to have scored in match-week 10.

Jamshedpur get consecutive wins: It was a good week for league debutants Jamshedpur FC with them winning both their fixtures, scripting back-to-back victories for the first time this season. After beating Kerala in their first fixture, they pulled off an impressive comeback win in their second match against Delhi Dynamos FC as Tiri, Yumnam Raju and Trindade Goncalves struck after Kalu Uche had scored twice for the Lions.
