The 11th match-week of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 brought with it a flurry of goals, some late drama, and the usual dose of thrills and spills. It was a good week for most of the teams in the top half of the table, as Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC and FC Pune City all registered wins. FC Goa, however, were edged in one of the most thrilling matches in the history of the league. Here are the results from the week gone by, and some of the key talking points.
Match 55: FC Pune City 2 – 1 Jamshedpur FC (Match Report)
Match 56: ATK 1 – 2 Chennaiyin FC (Match Report)
Match 57: Bengaluru FC 2 – 1 NorthEast United FC (Match Report)
Match 58: Kerala Blasters FC 2 – 1 Delhi Dynamos FC (Match Report)
Match 59: FC Goa 3 – 4 Mumbai City FC (Match Report)
Match 60: ATK 0 – 1 Jamshedpur FC (Match Report)
Four matches had a similar score-line: The Stallions came from behind to edge Jamshedpur 2 – 1 when Gurtej Singh and Emiliano Alfaro scored following Wellington Priori’s opener. Chennaiyin won under similar circumstances at Kolkata when Mailson Alves and Jeje Lalpekhlua cancelled Martin Paterson’s goal for the defending champions. Bengaluru too, won 2 – 1 when Juanan and Sunil Chhetri scored on either side of Marcinho’s penalty. Finally, Kerala too came from behind to beat Delhi when Kalu Uche’s first half-penalty was cancelled by Deependra Negi’s strike and Iain Hume’s spot-kick in the second period.

Goa and Mumbai involved in the thriller of the season so far: Mumbai City FC beat FC Goa 4 – 3 at Goa in a match that was never short of chances and goals. Ferran Corominas scored a brace and Manuel Lanzarote struck as well, but the Gaurs were denied a victory. The Islanders rode on goals from Everton Santos, Achille Emana, Thiago Santos and Balwant Singh to pick up a win and full points, in a match which had kept the fans at the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Four players score their maiden Hero ISL goals: Wellington Priori (Jamshedpur FC), Mailson Alves (Chennaiyin FC), Juanan (Bengaluru FC) and Deependra Negi (Kerala Blasters FC) got their first ever goals in the league. For Negi, it was more special as he struck on in his debut and scored from his very first touch of the game against Delhi Dynamos FC.

Teams pay the penalty: This match week saw as many as five penalties being awarded, with a 100% success rate. Marcinho, Kalu Uche, Iain Hume, Achille Emana and Trindade Goncalves all scored from the spot for their respective teams.
Week of woes for defending champions: Two-time Hero ISL champions ATK lost both their home matches during the week. Chennai’s win meant that the 2015 Hero ISL champions got their maiden win at Kolkata, while Jamshedpur also came and picked up all three points in the last match of the week.
