The Safe Keepers: Best Goalkeepers from the ISL 2024–25 season
We took a closer look at the top goalkeepers of the ISL 2024–25 season and their key role in protecting the goal for their teams.

In modern football, the role of a goalkeeper has evolved far beyond simply guarding the net, and the demands placed on them only seem to grow with each passing season. The Indian Super League (ISL) is no exception, with standards rising steadily year after year.
Keepers are now expected to contribute to the team’s build-up play, acting as an essential part of the outfield. Several goalkeepers embraced that dual responsibility this season—protecting their goal and playing out from the back—with remarkable composure and skill.
So, as we reflect on the ISL 2024–25 season, here’s a look at the top five standout goalkeepers, taking several factors into account, because when it comes to keeping, it’s about more than just clean sheets.
Vishal Kaith (Mohun Bagan Super Giant)
Mohun Bagan Super Giant enjoyed a stellar campaign, clinching both the League Shield and the ISL Cup. A key figure in their success was goalkeeper Vishal Kaith, who provided a rock-solid presence between the posts. The 28-year-old was consistently dependable, backed by a disciplined defensive unit. Kaith made 75 saves across the season, boasting a league-high save percentage of 79%. He also kept 15 clean sheets, the highest ever recorded in a single ISL season, while conceding just 19 goals in 26 appearances.
Hrithik Tiwari (FC Goa)
Hrithik Tiwari emerged as a breakout star for FC Goa. The Guwahati-born youngster began the season as the third-choice goalkeeper but seized his chance after injuries sidelined the senior keepers. Making his first appearance in FC Goa’s seventh match, Tiwari quickly established himself as the No.1. He ended the campaign with seven clean sheets in 19 games, and under the mentorship of seasoned defenders like Odei Onaindia and Sandesh Jhingan, his confidence soared. Tiwari recorded 52 saves and maintained a commendable 74% save percentage, conceding just 18 goals.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Bengaluru FC)
Bengaluru FC mounted a strong comeback under head coach Gerard Zaragoza, climbing from last season’s bottom-place finish to third in the regular season and finishing as runners-up in the ISL Cup. While silverware narrowly escaped them, the turnaround was largely built on a significantly improved defensive setup. Despite a slump midway through the campaign, their defence line, as well as Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, was instrumental in their resurgence. He started the season with five consecutive clean sheets and went on to register eight shutouts — tied for the second-most in the league — along with 82 saves, also the joint second-highest tally, across 26 appearances.
Albino Gomes (Jamshedpur FC)
Albino Gomes of Jamshedpur FC was the league’s busiest goalkeeper. He registered a remarkable 102 saves, a full 20 more than any other keeper. Gomes played a crucial role in Jamshedpur's surprise surge into the playoffs, standing tall in crucial moments. His shot-stopping ability was particularly evident from the spot, saving four penalties this season. He featured in all 27 league games for his side.
Gurmeet Singh (NorthEast United FC)
Gurmeet Singh of NorthEast United FC continued to build on his impressive Durand Cup form under head coach Juan Pedro Benali. Showcasing greater composure and maturity, Singh remained a steady presence at the back for the Highlanders. He kept seven clean sheets, the fourth-highest in the league, and made 69 saves throughout the campaign.
