Gameweek 3 of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 saw upsets, comebacks and many more goals, as newcomers Odisha FC and Hyderabad FC finally registered their first wins of the Hero ISL. With Jamshedpur FC topping the table and ATK hot on their heels, let’s have a look at the star performers who made their place into the best XI of the recently concluded round, based on the player ratings of individual matches.

Subrata Paul (Jamshedpur FC)

Jamshedpur FC custodian Subrata Paul was the standout player for the Jharkhand-based side in Match 15, keeping out the fierce Bengaluru attack. He made as many as nine crucial saves to help his team earn a point and top the table.

Tiri (Jamshedpur FC)

Alongside Subrata, the Jamshedpur FC skipper was key to helping his side keep a clean sheet against the reigning champions. His 13 clearances helped keep the Bengaluru attackers at bay.

Prabir Das (ATK)

Prabir Das slotted into a wing-back’s role and played a crucial part in the solitary goal scored by ATK against Chennaiyin. Deadly on the flanks, Das has made himself a staple to the ATK side and will hope to retain his place and stay fit through the season.

Lucian Goian (Chennaiyin FC)

Although Chennaiyin FC lost the match against ATK, they were the better side for most of the match and captain Lucian Goian ensured his team did not allow more goals. Goian made nine clearances and had a passing accuracy of 87%.

Mourtada Fall (FC Goa)

Fall finds himself on the list for the second Gameweek running after a solid performance in FC Goa’s defence against NorthEast United FC. The Senegalese defender also took advantage of NorthEast’s lapse in concentration in the dying seconds to set up Manvir Singh for the equaliser.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga (Odisha FC)

The young winger was a livewire down the right for Odisha FC against Mumbai City FC, scoring the third goal for them and assisting both of Aridane Santana’s strikes. The youngster’s combination with Santana was one of the highlights of Odisha's first-ever win in the Hero ISL.

Mohamed Larbi (Mumbai City FC)

Mumbai City FC might have lost against Odisha, but their Tunisian midfielder was one of the best players for the Islanders on the pitch. Larbi scored the first of his team’s two goals on the night, also producing some decent opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.

Hugo Boumous (FC Goa)

Hugo Boumous shone in his first match of the ongoing season, scoring the opener for FC Goa against NorthEast while creating many more chances. His combination with striker Ferran Corominas might prove to be deadly if their last match was anything to go by.

David Williams (ATK)

ATK’s David Williams was the difference between the two sides during the Kolkata-based side's match against Chennaiyin FC. His solitary goal proved to be the decider, propelling ATK to the top of the table temporarily, and him to the top of the goal-scoring charts.

Aridane Santana (Odisha FC)

Aridane Santana continued his red-hot form, topping the goal-scoring charts alongside ATK’s Williams. The Spanish striker scored two goals against Mumbai after assisting Xisco Hernandez for the opener.

Marcelo Pereira (Hyderabad FC)

Marcelo Pereira’s classy free-kick against Kerala Blasters FC earned Hyderabad FC their first-ever win in the competition. Playing in front of their home fans for the first time, Hyderabad fell behind in the first-half but fought back with a Marko Stankovic equaliser before Marcelo sealed the win and three points with a brilliant set-piece.
