Looking back, here’s the best XI who played a starring role in their respective teams’ fortunes in Gameweek 18. The choices are based on individual match ratings:

  1. Vishal Kaith (Chennaiyin FC)

The Chennaiyin goalkeeper played a pivotal role in helping his team secure a 1-0 win over Mumbai City FC and subsequently, a spot in the semi-finals. Kaith made a crucial save and affected nine clearances as Chennaiyin kept a clean sheet in the virtual do-or-die match.

  1. Mohammad Yasir (Hyderabad FC)

Yasir was key in Hyderabad’s 5-1 win over NorthEast United FC in their final match of the season. The youngster scored his maiden Hero ISL goal on the night, created four other chances for his side and had a passing accuracy of 79%.

  1. Lucian Goian (Chennaiyin FC)

Guedes converted a penalty to score Odisha's third goal against Kerala Blasters FC. He also had a passing accuracy of 69%, three successful tackles and two clearances to his name.

  1. Rowllin Borges (Mumbai City FC)

Despite his team’s heartbreaking loss to Chennaiyin which made them crash out of the top four, Borges was the standout midfielder in the contest. Having had to play a good forty minutes of the contest with 10 men after Sourav Das’ sending off, Borges’ industry in the middle of the park was one of the biggest reasons behind the Islanders managing to stay in the contest until the 83rd minute Goian winner. The 27-year-old put in five successful tackles, made six clearances and affected four interceptions in the match.

  1. Federico Gallego (NorthEast United FC)

Gallego created one chance for NorthEast United against Hyderabad FC, while all of his three shots were on target. Five of his eight tackles were successful as well, with the Uruguayan having a passing accuracy of 69%.

  1. Marcelo Pereira (Hyderabad FC)

The Brazilian forward scored two goals and created one other chance to ensure Hyderabad's season ended with a rare victory. He even had a passing accuracy of 73% through the game, playing a pivotal role in his team’s 5-1 away triumph.

The young forward scored two goals against NorthEast and also played a big part to set up Yasir’s strike. Colaco also created three other chances on the night, producing an impressive attacking display.

  1. Manuel Onwu (Odisha FC)

The Spaniard continued his fine form in the Odisha shirt as he took his tally to seven goals from four matches since joining the Bhubaneswar-based club on loan. Three of these came in the 4-4 draw against Kerala. Besides scoring a hat-trick, Onwu also won the penalty, which eventually culminated into Odisha’s other goal on the night.

  1. Bartholomew Ogbeche (Kerala Blasters FC)

Trailing 4-2 against Odisha FC going into the final 10 minutes of the tie, Kerala seemed to be staring at an inevitable defeat in the final match of their Hero ISL 2019-20 season. However, Kerala captain Ogbeche had other ideas as he converted two late penalties, the second of which he won himself, to salvage a point and some pride for his team.
