Five matches, 10 goals and multiple lively performances – Gameweek 1 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 turned out to be quite a ride. A number of players came to the fore , but only eleven could be chosen for the Team of the Week.
Here's the best XI from Gameweek 1 of Hero ISL 2019-20.
Amrinder Singh (Mumbai City FC)

There were some scintillating performances from several custodians in Gameweek 1, but it was Amrinder Singh who proved himself a cut above the rest. The 26-year-old played a crucial part in Mumbai City FC's first win of the season, making three vital saves against Kerala Blasters FC. The last of these, to keep out Bartholomew Ogbeche in the dying seconds of the match, was an incredible one, to say the least, and ensured all three points for the Islanders, rather than just one.
Carlos Pena (FC Goa)

The Gaurs' centre-back didn’t just produce an immense effort at the heart of Goa's defence against Chennaiyin to help his team keep a clean sheet, but also wrapped up the 3-0 win with a cheeky flick at the front post.
Seriton Fernandes (FC Goa)

The young fullback put in an industrious display against Chennaiyin FC, bombing up and down the right flank tirelessly throughout 90 minutes, helping in attack, while putting in a terrific shift defensively. The youngster made some crucial tackles and eventually earned himself the Hero of the Match award.
Carl McHugh (ATK)

The versatile Irishman was used in the backline by ATK head coach Antonio Lopez Habas in the season opener against Kerala Blasters and the 26-year-old marked his debut with a stunning volleyed goal - the season's first and ATK's 100th in the Hero ISL. He also put in a decent shift, affecting three interceptions and five clearances.
Heerings Kai (NorthEast United FC)

The 29-year-old Dutchman kept the famed Bengaluru forward line at bay and affected a whopping 15 clearances during the 0-0 draw against the reigning champions.
Seiminlen Doungel (FC Goa)

Making his debut for FC Goa against Chennaiyin FC, Seiminlen Doungel impressed with his tenacity as well as work rate and topped it off with a goal.
Piti (Jamshedpur FC)

Jamshedpur FC's Piti makes an appearance in the list after a noteworthy Hero ISL debut. The Spaniard's terrific vision and prowess from set-pieces were showcased in full glory and it was his pass in the 85th minute that set up Sergio Castel for the winning goal of the match, which gave 10-man Jamshedpur maximum points.
Aridane Santana (Odisha FC)

Yet another Hero ISL debutant, the towering Spaniard introduced himself to the league by scoring a terrific goal to draw Odisha level against Jamshedpur. With his frame and build, Aridane Santana excelled in holding the ball up and proved his striker's instinct with a well-taken goal.
Sergio Castel (Jamshedpur FC)

With Jamshedpur having to play over 55 minutes against Odisha FC with 10 men, Castel, on large parts found himself isolated as the lone striker. But when the chance came knocking, the 24-year-old Spaniard demonstrated his quality with a classy chip over Francisco Dorronsoro to engineer a win for his team despite the odds.
Ferran Corominas (FC Goa)

Despite playing more as a no. 10 than his preferred role at the tip of the attack, the two-time Golden Boot winner still managed to find the net against Chennaiyin FC. With him operating in the pocket between defence and midfield, Chennaiyin had a tough time keeping tabs on the wily Spaniard. His clever movement off the ball continuously opened up space for his teammates and once he got an opportunity to score, Coro dispatched it with his usual authority.
Bartholomew Ogbeche (Kerala Blasters FC)

In the first match of the season against ATK, Ogbeche led Kerala from the front and scored a brace to inspire the team to a win. The striker could have scored late in the match against Mumbai too, but was only denied by a wonder save from Amrinder.
