Match 106 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 will see Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC square off at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco in what will be both teams’ last game of the season. The Blues will have the added motivation of leapfrogging Jamshedpur FC in the standings with a win, while Jamshedpur FC will be eager to deny the Blues that satisfaction as both sides aim to end their respective campaigns on a high and here’s a closer look at some of the factors that could very well decide the outcome of the contest.

Cleiton and Chhetri threat

Cleiton Silva and Sunil Chhetri will be Bengaluru FC’s most potent weapons and will have to be marked tightly by Jamshedpur FC’s defence. The attacking duo have been the Blues’ best players this season and will be spearheading their attack on Thursday. Both Cleiton and Chhetri have scored seven times each this season and will be having some healthy competition between them to see who finishes the campaign as the team’s leading goal-scorer. That said, they aren’t just goal-scorers and can set up teammates to score as Cleiton’s four assists and Chhetri’s two assists suggest.

Jamshedpur FC’s defence will be difficult to breach

Jamshedpur FC may have conceded 20 times this season but that doesn’t tell the entire story. Coyle’s men, in fact, have tightened things up at the back, especially in the latter half of the season with the centre-back pairing of Peter Hartley and Stephen Eze proving to be a difficult challenge for opposition attackers to overcome. They have conceded just thrice in their last seven outings and have kept five clean sheets during that time. Their last outing saw them beat and keep a clean sheet against Mumbai City FC’s flamboyant attacking stars.

Sixth spot up for grabs

Jamshedpur FC are currently in sixth spot with 24 points, two ahead of Bengaluru FC in seventh. While a draw or a win will be enough for Jamshedpur FC to secure the sixth spot in the standings, Bengaluru FC will be eager to take that position for themselves and finish as high in the standings as possible. Nothing short of a win can make that happen for the Blues and their players will undoubtedly have that motivation heading into the clash. Bengaluru will also be looking to end the season with a win having lost their last match against FC Goa.
