Mohun Bagan Super Giant extended their unbeaten record in the Kolkata derby in the Indian Super League (ISL) with a 3-1 win over East Bengal FC on Sunday to go top of the table.

A first-half blitz that included goals from Jason Cummings, Liston Colaco and Dimitri Petratos blew the Red and Gold brigade away as a second-half goal from Saul Crespo proved to be just a consolation for Carles Cuadrat’s side.

The victory has put the Mariners in the driver’s seat in the race for the League Shield but for East Bengal FC, the final playoff spot became even more distant.

On a night of green and maroon glory, there were notable individual performances that were rewarded with an entry into the record books.

Here’s a look at some key numbers from the Kolkata derby.

  •     Mohun Bagan Super Giant have scored two or more goals in each of their eight meetings against East Bengal FC in the ISL. The Mariners have scored 20 goals in eight games against their city rivals in the league.
  •     A Carles Cuadrat-led side conceded three first-half goals for the first time in ISL history.
  •     East Bengal FC attempted 37 dribbles against Mohun Bagan SG, the highest such tally by any side in a single game in ISL history.
  •     Vishal Kaith’s penalty save in the 14th minute was the first penalty save of this fixture in the ISL. It was Kaith’s third penalty save in the league’s history and his first since October 19, 2018 (against Mumbai City FC)

  •      Petratos scored his third goal in the Kolkata derby in the ISL, the joint most by any player in this fixture in competition history (also Krishna, Manvir Singh and Kiyan Nassiri). He has now scored a goal in each of his last three ISL games against East Bengal FC.
  •     Saul Crespo registered his first-ever goal in the ISL. Following his assist for Crespo’s goal, Cleiton Silva has now recorded a goal contribution in each of the last two Kolkata derbies in the ISL (one goal and one assist).
