Mumbai City FC have been an unstoppable force in the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23, who are showing no signs of slowing down given their effortless and thorough performances from the beginning of the season.

While undoubtedly their meteoric rise to such a high-level of output and performances is a result of their collective efforts, but few players stand out for their extraordinary attributes on the pitch and consistent quality performances through each passing game.

Among such few players, is the Islanders’ anchor man in the midfield, Ahmed Jahouh. The Moroccan has been an invaluable asset to the Mumbai City FC side ever since he joined from FC Goa ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Hero ISL League Winner has been an outstanding player ever since his FC Goa days and is known for his flair in the middle of the park, ranging from key passes in the final third to significant tackles in the defensive third.

During their triumphant and historic Hero ISL double in the 2020-21 campaign, the 34-year-old topped the club charts for most touches, most successful passes and tackles, and was a key component in the Sergio Lobera-led side.

Facing his former club on Thursday, Jahouh made his 100th Hero ISL appearance becoming just the second foreign player to achieve this landmark, adding another achievement to his growing list.

Jahouh has provided 20 assists in the Hero ISL, the joint-second most in the league alongside Brandon Fernandes of FC Goa, second only to Hugo Boumous (31 assists) of ATK Mohun Bagan. Out of his 20 assists, 13 have come in Mumbai City FC colours, to make him their their leading assist provider in Hero ISL history.

Further, the midfield magician has had the most touches, played the most passes, and made the most tackles in the league’s history. Jahouh also holds the league record for most touches (1877), most tackles (182) and most passes (1625) in a single season.

In Des Buckingham’s first season with the club, Jahouh was again the star performer in the midfield despite being ruled out for several games due to injury. With seven assists and three goals, Jahouh and showed his excellence with aplomn in a faltering Hero ISL 2021-22 season and carried that form in Mumbai City FC's historic AFC Champions League campaign.

The Moroccan continues to be the glue that hold the Mumbai City FC side together and there is every evidence that he will be one of the key players as Mumbai City FC look to add further silverware to their trophy cabinet this season.
