Manvir Singh: Indian forward’s odyssey to Hero ISL prestige over the years

Presently considered one of the most promising forwards in the country, Manvir Singh made his Hero Indian Super League (ISL) debut with FC Goa in the 2017-18 season.

He was primarily used as a substitute in his debut season, however, as seasons progressed with the Gaurs, Manvir helped FC Goa claim the Hero ISL League Winners Shield as they finished top of the table.

Then, he joined ATK Mohun Bagan after signing a three-year deal with the club and was an integral member of the team that reached the 2020-21 Hero ISL final.

Here's how his previous seasons went by:

Manvir began his Hero ISL journey with FC Goa and was one of the promising youngsters in their ranks. That season, Manvir racked up just 265 minutes from nine games, but it served as a great learning curve for him and the Forward played his part as the Gaurs reached the semi-finals.

The Punjab lad found himself more involved the following season, featuring in 19 games for FC Goa. In whatever opportunities that came his way, Manvir showcased his potential by scoring his maiden Hero ISL goal besides contributing an assist.

With his confidence on the rise, Manvir clocked more than double the amount of minutes he received the previous season. He gained a reputation as a reliable super-sub, scoring twice off the bench for the Gaurs, who clinched the League Winners Shield.

Manvir signed for ATK Mohun Bagan and a change in club brought him more opportunities and success. He enjoyed his most successful Hero ISL campaign with 6 goals and 3 assists, guiding the Mariners to the final.

Manvir with his versatility, has shown how great an asset he can be season after season. Now a regular for the Indian national team and his club, there is a lot more in store for the youngster.
