Eugeneson Lyngdoh needs no introduction if you have been an avid follower of the Hero I-League over the previous season. Playing for Bengaluru FC, the lanky midfielder impressed one and all with his passion and nerves of steel, not to mention his amazing playing capabilities too. Having made 20 appearances in the season gone by, he was a key presence in the middle of the park and even chipped in by finding the net eight times.Come July 10th, and Lyngdoh would be amongst the first to be a part of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) Player Auction. When asked about playing in the ISL for the first time, he responded quite animatedly. “I’m looking forward to the whole package! Playing alongside some of the big names of world football and learning as much as I can while I’m on the road is something that’s on top of the agenda. It’s all very exciting.”Speaking about what impressed him the most about the ISL’s first season, he said, “The names that were part of the opening season, the quality of production on television, the hype and buzz and the recognition that so many deserving players got was what stood out.”Lyngdoh was chuffed to see the performances of Chennayin FC’s marquee player Elano Blumer. “He was superb, had skill and you always thought he would do something special when he had the ball at his feet,” he said, falling short of words to admire the Brazilian international. With the first ever ISL Player Auction coming up, one would expect that Lyngdoh would have given some thought to which team he would love to eventually join. But the footballer remained modest. “I’ll be very honest when I say I haven’t given this thought. Whichever team wants me, I’ll be happy for them. Wherever I go, I’m sure I will return with some great experiences and will have learned a thing or two.”However, one thing that he is absolutely clear about is what he will bring to the table for the side that picks him. “What I am going to bring is 100% effort and commitment to help my team gun for the title. I’m coming on the back of a good season with my club Bengaluru FC and am very keen on keeping the same form going through the ISL.”Clearly, Lyngdoh is confident in his abilities to deliver on the big stage, and will undoubtedly be a coveted signing when the player auction is held next month.Check out which team’s fans have voted for Eugeneson Lyngdoh across our social platforms.
