This is a big step for Indian football and an equally wonderful opportunity for me. I am confident that I shall repay my club’s faith in me. I cannot wait for the tournament to start”, he said enthusiastically.Jeje hails from a footballing background. Both his father and elder brother were club players and his uncle represented Mizoram in the Santosh Trophy. In 2007, he signed for Pune FC but was soon loaned out to the Indian Arrows where he scored 13 goals in 15 games in 2010-11. He went back to Pune FC the following season and later turned out for Dempo. His last club game for the giants of Indian football, Mohun Bagan, whom he has signed for this season. Quizzed for his views on the ISL, Jeje was quick to reply, “The first thing that comes to mind are the facilities. The ISL is giving us abundant infrastructure and the ways to utilise them. It is heartening to see that we will be playing in such a well organised competition. For the players and the coaches, there is nothing better than to be at the receiving end of such a great platform.”Jeje is clearly looking forward to sharing space with the international stars on show during the course of the tournament and his excitement is palpable, “I am very, very excited. Being an Indian international myself, playing alongside several international stars is going to be a wonderful experience. Imagine playing against someone like (Alessandro) Del Piero! It will be a dream come true. And it’s not just about playing with them, but also about learning and taking something from them. This is a huge step toward the betterment of Indian football as well.”The debonair forward is looking forward to training with the complete squad. “It’s just been five days and there are about three players left to join us. But for now, it has been a good experience. I have interacted with Bojan (Djordjic). He is extremely friendly, helpful and a really nice guy. I am very eager to train with all the players and once the coach comes in, we’ll have a clear idea of the direction we want to move in.To conclude, Jeje signs off with an earnest request to all Chennaiyin FC fans, "I would like to request all of you for your support as you are our strength. This club plays for you."
