The Matchweek ahead promises to be full of tight contests with plenty at stake for every team but this could very well be another high-scoring round, with points up for grabs.
Our squad picks for Matchweek 22 includes a triple up of players from Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who are sitting top of the table, alongside Jamshedpur FC and Odisha FC. The latter two have the advantage of playing at home.
Here’s a closer look at our squad picks and why these players made the cut for the upcoming Matchweek.
Goalkeepers
Albino Gomes (Jamshedpur FC) - 4.5 CR
Albino Gomes has been the standout goalkeeper this season, topping the charts for the most saves and playing a key role in Jamshedpur FC's successful campaign. His budget-friendly price tag has made him the most popular pick in ISL Fantasy. In their recent loss to Bengaluru FC, despite conceding three goals, Gomes still managed to secure seven points, thanks to three saves and a crucial penalty save. He faces NorthEast United FC at home next and will be aiming for a solid performance.
Defenders
Subhasish Bose (Mohun Bagan SG) - 5.2 CR
Subhasish Bose continues to be a must-have in our ISL Fantasy squads this season. He’s been an absolute machine this season, scoring six goals and playing a major role in Mohun Bagan SG's charge for the Shield by helping them keep the most clean sheets. With Kerala Blasters FC up next, Bose will be aiming for another clean sheet, helping his side strengthen their position at the top of the table.
Mehtab Singh (Mumbai City FC) - 5.6 CR
Singh is currently tied as the third-highest scorer in ISL Fantasy this season, alongside Alberto Rodriguez of Mohun Bagan SG and is Mumbai City FC’s top scorer in the game. He’s not only a solid defender but also one of the best ball-playing center-backs in the league, completing more successful passes than anyone else, aside from his defensive work that’s helped Mumbai City FC keep clean sheets. With a tough fixture against FC Goa ahead, his leadership and defensive prowess will be crucial in the absence of Tiri.
Alberto Rodriguez (Mohun Bagan SG) - 5.5 CR
Rodriguez returned from injury in the match against Punjab FC and helped tighten things up at the back in the absence of Tom Aldred and Asish Rai, with the latter subbed off due to an injury.
The Spanish defender has been a rock for Mohun Bagan SG, contributing four goals and playing a key role in his team conceding the fewest goals in the league. Expect him to continue being a defensive force for his side as they take on the Blasters.
Mourtada Fall (Odisha FC) - 5.8 CR
Mourtada Fall was missed in Odisha FC’s 1-1 draw against Punjab FC due to suspension, but he’s back in action now. His absence was keenly felt, as Odisha FC struggled without him but still managed to hold their ground with one player down.
As Odisha FC’s top scorer in Fantasy, Fall has netted four goals and provided one assist this season. He also scored in the reverse fixture against Hyderabad FC besides keeping a clean sheet, so he’ll be looking to replicate that performance in their upcoming match.
Midfielders
Hugo Boumous (Odisha FC, Vice captain) - 8.5 CR
Hugo Boumous was in fine form in Matchweek 21, registering a solid 12 points across two games, despite just one assist. He’s ranked second among midfielders for Fantasy points this season, and his all-around performances have been a constant threat to opposition defenses.
With three goals and five assists to his name, he’ll be hoping to add more when Odisha FC face 12th-placed Hyderabad FC at home.
Vishnu PV (East Bengal FC) - 5.4 CR
Vishnu PV has been a bright spot for East Bengal FC this season, being their top scorer with four goals. Despite East Bengal's struggles, he consistently looked dangerous down the wing.
With Mohammedan SC, who have conceded the most goals this season, coming up next, Vishnu will be eager to get back on the scoresheet and add more points to his tally.
Javi Hernandez (Jamshedpur FC) - 9.6 CR
Javi Hernandez has been an absolute Fantasy juggernaut this season, amassing more points than any other midfielder. He’s been a key figure in Jamshedpur FC's push for the Shield, contributing to 10 goals with seven goals and three assists.
The Spaniard is a real threat from open play and set-pieces, and as the team’s first-choice penalty taker, he’s an essential pick for your Fantasy squad.
Forwards
Diego Mauricio (Odisha FC) - 9 CR
Diego Mauricio didn’t have the best of performances in Matchweek 21, recording only five points over two games, which was underwhelming given his potential. He was unlucky not to score big after missing a penalty against FC Goa.
As Odisha FC’s main attacking threat, Mauricio’s ability to both score and create chances will be crucial, especially with a home fixture against Hyderabad FC coming up. And with a good fixture on paper, he is still one to have in your Fantasy team.
Jamie Maclaren (Mohun Bagan SG, Captain) - 11.4 CR
Maclaren bounced back from a four-game goal drought with a clinical brace in the last match against Punjab FC, taking his tally to eight goals for the season. Although he had been quiet for a few games, Maclaren has remained a key player, consistently being involved in big chances.
With Mohun Bagan SG facing a Kerala Blasters FC side that has been defensively shaky this season, Maclaren is a must-have forward for your Fantasy squad.
Dimitrios Diamantakos (East Bengal FC) - 11.6 CR
After winning the Golden Boot last season, Dimitrios Diamantakos hasn’t hit the same high standards this season, scoring only three goals in 15 matches. Despite that, he remains East Bengal FC’s key player in attack.
He’s had some big chances in recent games and will be looking to take full advantage of a match against bottom-placed Mohammedan SC, a side that has conceded the most number of goals.
Substitutes
Hrithik Tiwari (FC Goa) - 4.2 CR
Tiwari has been one of FC Goa’s standout performers this season, keeping five clean sheets in 13 games and making many crucial saves. While the upcoming fixture against Mumbai City FC is tough on paper, Tiwari’s shot-stopping abilities and solid form make him a valuable pick at this price.
Lazar Cirkovic (Jamshedpur FC) - 5.0 CR
Cirkovic has been an unexpected gem for Jamshedpur FC this season. Initially playing as a midfielder, he’s been filling in at center-back recently, and he’s been doing a solid job in that role.
The Serbian has already scored once this season, and with Jamshedpur FC facing NorthEast United FC at home, he’ll be looking to build on the team’s strong home record.
Pritam Kotal (Chennaiyin FC) - 4.7 CR
Since his recent move to Chennaiyin FC, Kotal has been quietly consistent, amassing 19 points across four games, despite only keeping one clean sheet which came in their 3-0 win over East Bengal FC in the last game. His versatility, playing both full-back and center-back, has been a big asset for his team.
Kotal will be hoping for another clean sheet as his side faces Punjab FC in their next match.
Connor Shields (Chennaiyin FC) - 7.2 CR
Shields has been central to everything Chennaiyin FC creates, and his performance against East Bengal FC was a perfect example of that, providing an assist in their 3-0 win. The Scotsman leads the league in chances created and assists this season, and with Punjab FC’s leaky defence up next, he’ll be looking to add more assists to his tally.
