Here are the key takeaways from the final matchweek of the 2024-25 ISL season.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant complete unbeaten home campaign
Mohun Bagan Super Giant completed an extraordinary league campaign, remaining unbeaten at home—a feat achieved by only three other teams in ISL history.
The Kolkata giants turned their home ground into a fortress, winning a record-breaking 11 matches in a single ISL season. Their defensive resilience was just as impressive, as they set a new league record with six consecutive home clean sheets, surpassing FC Goa’s previous mark of five in 2014.
Their final home game—a decisive 2-0 win over FC Goa—sealed their historic unbeaten home run. Mohun Bagan Super Giant finished the league stage with a record of 56 points, lifting the ISL Shield in front of home supporters. It was a fitting reward for their consistency, dominance, and the unwavering support of their passionate fanbase.
Ajaraie etches his name in ISL history with goals against all teams
NorthEast United FC’s Alaaeddine Ajaraie became only the fourth player in ISL history to score against every team in a single season. He joins an elite group that includes Coro (2017-18, FC Goa), Kalu Uche (2017-18, Delhi Dynamos FC), and Miku Fedor (2017-18, Bengaluru FC).

Ajaraie netted twice in NorthEast United’s dominant 4-0 victory over East Bengal FC in their final league-phase game. He currently leads the league’s scoring charts with 23 goals and is also among the league’s top creators, ranking joint-second in assists with seven. His all-around contribution has been instrumental in NorthEast United FC’s campaign so far.
His season has been defined by clinical finishing, with an impressive seven braces to his name—one of the highest tallies in league history.
Coyle extends unbeaten record against his former side
Chennaiyin FC completed their first-ever league double over Jamshedpur FC with a dominant 5-2 victory, following their earlier 5-1 triumph against the same opposition. This result makes Chennaiyin FC one of the few teams in ISL history to score five or more goals against the same opponent twice in a single season.
Moreover, Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle extended his unbeaten record against Jamshedpur FC. With four wins and two draws, Jamshedpur FC remains the only team in the ISL that Coyle has never lost to—further cementing his tactical superiority over his former team.
Mumbai City FC secure the final playoff spot
Mumbai City FC claimed the last playoff berth with a crucial 2-0 win over Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The victory ensured they finished in sixth place with 36 points, sealing their spot in the postseason.
Mumbai City showed attacking intent from the start, creating several goal-scoring opportunities. Lallianzuala Chhangte came close early on, striking the crossbar, but he soon made his mark in the 8th minute, converting a well-placed pass from Nikolaos Karelis to give Mumbai City the lead.
Karelis then won and converted a penalty in the 37th minute, securing the victory for Mumbai City FC and confirming their place in the ISL playoffs.
