Odisha FC have been the highest-scoring side so far this season with 22 goals.
FC Goa have been the side with the least goals conceded so far this season with just five goals.
The Expected Goals metric evaluates every goal-scoring chance created and the likelihood of them being converted into goals. Odisha FC have the highest xG so far this season. Mumbai City FC are close second.
However, it's the Mariners who have most strongly overperformed their xG with an xG- difference of 5.96. They have scored almost six more goals than what they were expected to considering the quality of chances they created.
Overperforming xG could be seen as a case where the performance will be difficult to sustain over a period of time, but in most leagues around the world, the teams at the top end of the table usually outperform their xG score. It's a sign of a champion team.
Jamshedpur FC, Hyderabad FC and Bengaluru FC are the three teams to underperform their xG tally with the Yellow and Blacks having an xG Difference of -4.72. While this clearly shows underperformance in front of goal, there is a chance of an upturn in their fortunes in the second half of the season if they start making more of their opportunities.
Let us have a look at the xG and xG differences of every team.
