The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024–25 season once again underlined the growing influence of Indian footballers, especially in front of goal.
While foreign players often dominate the headlines and top the goalscoring charts, Indian talents continue to close the gap — playing key roles and steadily increasing their contribution in the final third. From the legendary Sunil Chhetri to the promising Brison Fernandes, several local stars lit up the season with standout performances, ensuring a bright future and a productive complement in attack.
As the 2024–25 ISL season comes to a close, we take a look at the top Indian goalscorers who made their mark throughout this action-packed campaign.
Sunil Chhetri (Sunil Chhetri) – 14 goals

Sunil Chhetri redefined greatness as he turned back the clock to finish the season as the top Indian goalscorer and the second-highest overall scorer in the league. Chhetri rediscovered his form in the 2024–25 campaign, scoring 14 goals — the joint-most by an Indian in a single ISL season. He also attempted 62 shots, maintaining an impressive 52.9% shooting accuracy, once again underlining his value as Bengaluru FC enjoyed a resurgent season.
Brison Fernandes (FC Goa) – 7 goals

Brison Fernandes, FC Goa’s breakthrough star, enjoyed a dream season under his belt, winning the ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ award. The local lad from Goa was instrumental for the Gaurs with his goal-scoring versatility, link-up play, and ability to effortlessly beat opposition defenders. Fernandes finished the season as FC Goa’s joint second-highest goalscorer and also created 27 chances throughout the campaign.
Lallianzuala Chhangte (Mumbai City FC) – 6 goals

Despite not being at his best this season, Lallianzuala Chhangte finished third on the list, scoring six goals for Mumbai City FC. The Islanders’ captain was deployed in various positions throughout the season, with the coach making full use of his versatility. However, the Mizo forward still posted impressive offensive numbers — recording 99 touches in the opposition box, creating 30 chances, and completing 16 successful dribbles.
Subhasish Bose (Mohun Bagan Super Giant) – 6 goals

Subhasish Bose showcased his impressive attacking flair, making the most of his ability to find space and dominate aerial duels during set-piece situations. His offensive versatility had a significant impact on the Mariners’ playing style. The MBSG captain scored six goals in the 2024–25 season, the highest tally ever recorded by a defender in a single ISL campaign.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga (Odisha FC) – 5 goals

Jerry Mawihmingthanga grabbed his opportunities with both hands, rising to the occasion with promising performances throughout the campaign. Despite being limited to just 1,060 minutes of game time, Jerry scored five goals and provided two assists. The 28-year-old forward averaged a 35.71% goal conversion rate and created 10 chances, playing a pivotal role — often as a super-sub.
Important mention: Manvir Singh of MBSG and Chennaiyin FC’s Irfan Yadwad also scored five goals each but did so having played more minutes than Jerry Mawihmingthanga.
