And the month of January has been particularly competitive with the teams from the bottom half turning up the heat big time. Fans' votes will count towards 50% of the vote share and experts' votes account for remaining 50%.

The nominee with the highest cumulative percentage (Fans+Experts) after voting ends will be named the Hero of the Month. The voting starts 12 noon on February 1 and ends 12 noon on February 4.

In the event that 2 players end up with an equal final percentage (Fans'+Experts' votes), the nominee with the higher percentage of the experts' votes will win.

Here are the Hero of the Month nominees for January:

Rowllin Borges - Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City were in top form during the month of January, winning four matches, drawing twice and losing just once. Borges was involved in all but one of the Islanders’ matches in the last month, not featuring in his team’s loss against the Highlanders. The midfielder made six clearances and six blocks for his team as well as 12 successful tackles during the month. Borges also managed a strong passing accuracy of 84.31% in six matches.

Diego Mauricio - Odisha FC

Odisha FC’s Diego Mauricio has been one of the team’s best players in what has been an underwhelming season for the club. In six matches, Mauricio scored four goals and bagged one assist for his team. The Brazilian forward scored in four of Odisha’s six games this month, including a brace in their first win of the season against Kerala Blasters FC. In addition to this, Mauricio created 14 chances for his team.

Jorge Ortiz - FC Goa

Jorge Ortiz scored three goals for the Gaurs in five matches. Ortiz scored a brace in their 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC, before scoring once more in their 1-1 draw against Kerala Blasters FC. Ortiz also created seven chances for his team while managing a shot accuracy of 61.11%.

Federico Gallego - NorthEast United FC

Federico Gallego has been a new lease of life for the Highlanders. The Uruguayan playmaker was the best player for his team in January, bagging two goals and four assists for his team. He created a massive 27 chances in six matches for NorthEast United FC. Gallego scored against Hyderabad in their 4-2 loss, before assisting both the goals against Jamshedpur FC. He also scored and assisted once in a 2-1 win over ATK Mohun Bagan.

Bartholomew Ogbeche - Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City forward Bartholomew Ogbeche was involved in all seven matches for the Islanders in January, and started three of these matches. Ogbeche scored three goals during this period. Ogbeche bagged his first goal of the month in their comfortable 3-1 victory over Bengaluru FC. The striker went on to score the winner against ATK Mohun Bagan and the first goal in a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC.
