Hero ISL commentator Pulasta Dhar picks his Team of Matchweek 14 in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23.
Dhar has opted for a very attack-minded line-up with just three purely defence-minded players in the squad.
Mumbai City FC have the highest representation in the Team of Matchweek 14 with four players with Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC also having multiple representatives.
Here is Pulsata Dhar’s Team of Matchweek 14:
Formation: 3-1-3-3
Goalkeeper
Phurba Lachenpa (Mumbai City FC)
Despite not being tested for long periods of time, he came flying out, his timing was impeccable, his focus was great and he showed glimpses of being a sweeper keeper which is something Des Buckingham will appreciate. Mumbai City FC were always safe at the back and Lachenpa gives them confidence.
Defenders
Aakash Sangwan (Chennaiyin FC)
I think he was fantastic. He has a great crossing ability, excellent left foot and is so stylish.
Mehtab Singh (Mumbai City FC)
He was rock solid. He put his body on the lines and provided an incredible pass to start off the Bipin Singh goal. It's looking like he may very well be in the Indian national team and not just in the squad but also in the starting eleven
Nim Dorjee (Hyderabad FC)
Nim Dorjee is keeping Chinglensana Singh out of the team. I think he has forged a great partnership with Odei Onaindia. It's not easy to come in the middle of the season and prove yourself and he has done exactly that. I wanted to pick Alan Costa for his winner but had to make that sacrifice to fit in four foreigners.
Midfielders
Saul Crespo (Odisha FC)
He was everywhere and that's why I can have the risk of having a very thin defence line because if you see his touch map in the game, he was simply everywhere. Then he slotted in at centre-back as well once the substitutions happened and Gombau had to make the changes. Odisha FC look like a different side when Saul Crespo is playing
Ritwik Das (Jamshedpur FC)
He was a no-brainer after he scored two sensational goals. He has that individual class that was on show. We just hope we get to see more of that.
Bipin Singh (Mumbai City FC)
Bipin Singh terrorised Harmanjot Khabra and won that individual battle. He scored a wonderful goal. I think he has had the most impact over the last few years as a consistent starter. His place in the eleven never seems threatened under whichever head coach. That is a sign of great quality.
Forwards
Bartholomew Ogbeche
He will be my No 10 and will have to play a slightly withdrawn role which he has this season and he can do that. He scored another hat-trick and broke more records. he fits into that slot well with the support cast around him.
Diego Mauricio
Diego Mauricio is coming into form once again. He scored two fantastic goals and made an excellent impact and he would work great with Ogbeche and Pereyra Diaz.
Jorge Pereyra Diaz
Diaz will play down the right channel because he can run the channels. The way he brings in Chhangte and Bipin Singh for me is such a big clincher for him and that is also something that Kerala Blasters FC are missing and could be the difference between winning and losing games. He is such a hard worker and seems very happy with his role.
Sivasakthi Narayanan
All of us want to see Indian strikers do well but he is not in this team for emotional reasons. His finish against NorthEast United FC was fantastic. I was brave to try that. He may try that ten more times and not score. He showed that he has got that bit of unpredictability and instinctive ability to finish like that.
Head coach: Des Buckingham
Just fantastic. Mumbai City FC are 13 games unbeaten, have won the last eight in a row. He has been simply magnificent.
