Gameweek 18 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 was one with exciting results as the season entered a crucial phase. Hyderabad FC and NorthEast United FC played out a goalless draw to kick off the gameweek. The next fixture was a six-goal thriller between Mumbai City FC and FC Goa, which also saw the Islanders become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals this season. Meanwhile, ATK Mohun Bagan and Jamshedpur FC secured important wins over Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC as the race for the top four gets tighter. Here, we look at the team of the week from the gameweek gone by.  

TP Rehenesh                

TP Rehenesh kept an important clean sheet in Jamshedpur’s 1-0 victory over the Marina Machans. The Jamshedpur custodian saved all the three shots on target that he faced and also made three clearances to help his team to the victory.

Akash Mishra

Emerging Player of the Month for January, Akash Mishra was one of the best players in Hyderabad FC’s goalless draw against NorthEast United FC. He kept the opponent wingers at bay with five successful tackles and four clearances, and also made three blocks for his team.

Odei Onaindia

The Spanish defender helped Hyderabad FC to a goalless draw against the Highlanders with five clearances, four successful interceptions and one block. Odei Onaindia also had a strong passing accuracy of 94%.

Sandesh Jhingan

Sandesh Jhingan was a rock at the back for ATK Mohun Bagan during their 2-0 victory over Bengaluru. The India international made seven clearances, three blocks as well as one successful interception for the Mariners.

Yondrembem Denechandra Meitei

The defender created two chances in Kerala Blasters FC’s 2-2 draw against Odisha FC. He also made four successful tackles, five successful interceptions, one clearance as well as one block. For the first time this season, he made it to the team of the week.

Rowllin Borges

Rowllin Borges scored the third goal for Mumbai City in their 3-3 draw against FC Goa. Borges scored in second half injury time to give his team the lead. He also made three successful tackles and two successful interceptions in addition to his three clearances and one block.

Jorge Ortiz

Jorge Ortiz assisted the first goal in FC Goa’s 3-3 draw against Mumbai City. The Spanish midfielder created one chance for the Gaurs also managed one successful interception for his team.

Diego Mauricio

The Odisha FC forward scored two goals in a 2-2 draw against Kerala Blasters FC. With that, he took he goals tally to nine for the season. He also created two chances for his team besides having two of his three shots on target.

Jordan Murray

Kerala Blasters FC’s Jordan Murray had equalised for his team seven minutes into the second half against Odisha FC. Besides creating three chances, he also had five of his seven shots on target and throughout the match kept the Odisha defence under pressure.

Gary Hooper

Kerala Blasters’ Gary Hooper scored a goal as well as provided an assist against Odisha FC. He created three chances and had two of his five shots on target. Hooper also had a good passing accuracy of 79%.

David Williams

David Williams earned the freekick that led to ATK Mohun Bagan’s second goal in their win over Bengaluru. He also came up with four successful tackles, three clearances, four successful interceptions and two blocks.
