The 2020-21 Hero Indian Super League’s (Hero ISL) Gameweek 17 saw some strong individual performances. Manvir Singh, Roy Krishna and Federico Gallego particularly caught the eye with their braces as Bengaluru FC shot-stopper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu bagged his 29th clean sheet, which is a Hero ISL record. And all the teams that played this gameweek, only Jamshedpur FC, Kerala Blasters FC and FC Goa have no representation in the team of the week. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu

India international Gurpreet Singh Sandhu ensured that Chennaiyin FC were unable to score despite creating many chances. The Bengaluru custodian made six saves and three clearances to bag a well-earned clean sheet following a goalless draw.

Mourtada Fall

Mourtada Fall was unable to prevent the Blasters from breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute but kept them quiet for the remainder of the game with his 14 clearances and four successful interceptions. Fall also came up with two blocks and one successful tackle for his team.

Eli Sabia

Brazilian defender Eli Sabia kept the Bengaluru attackers quiet and helped his side to a clean sheet in their goalless draw against the Blues. Sabia made three blocks, two clearances and as many successful interceptions for Chennaiyin FC.

Francisco Gonzalez

Francisco Gonzalez made five clearances and four blocks in the Blues’ goalless draw against Chennaiyin FC. The Spanish defender also commanded a strong passing accuracy of 80% for his team.

Federico Gallego

The Uruguayan playmaker scored twice from the spot to help NorthEast United to a 2-2 draw against FC Goa. Federico Gallego also created five goal-scoring opportunities for his team. Defensively, he made two successful tackles.

Matti Steinmann

Matti Steinmann scored his fourth goal of the season when he put SC East Bengal ahead in the sixth minute against Jamshedpur FC. With that, he became the outright leading goal-scorer for the Red and Golds this season. The Hero of the Match also assisted Anthony Pilkington for his side’s second goal of the night.

Cole Alexander

South African midfielder Cole Alexander scored a wonder goal to equalise for Odisha in their 4-1 loss to ATK Mohun Bagan. Alexander also managed a passing accuracy of 81% and defensively, he made three successful tackles and two clearances for his team.

Bipin Singh

Bipin Singh scored the equalising goal for Mumbai City in their 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC. The winger scored at the beginning of the second half for the Islanders and created two chances for his team as well. He also helped the defence with two clearances and a block. For the first time this season, Bipin made it to the team of the week.

Hugo Boumous

Hugo Boumous created four chances for his team during their win over the Blasters. Boumous had two of his shots on target and also helped out his defence with two successful tackles and one clearance.

Manvir Singh

Manvir Singh was one of the best players in the Mariners’ win over Odisha. He scored two goals in either half to give his side the lead twice, and also went on to assist Krishna for ATK Mohun Bagan’s fourth goal of the game.

Roy Krishna

Roy Krishna was involved in all four goals scored by ATK Mohun Bagan in their 4-1 win over Odisha FC. The Fijian assisted the first two goals for his team before scoring twice late in the game to help the Mariners to full three points.
