Gameweek 11 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 ended with a top-of-the-table clash between Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan. In a week that was full of top-quality football action, many new names made their presence felt with stellar performances. Here, we take a look at the players that made it to the Team of the Week for Gameweek 11.

Debjit Majumder

A heroic effort by SC East Bengal custodian Debjit Majumder not only denied Bengaluru FC any goals but also earned Robbie Fowler’s men their second win of the season. Majumder was kept on his toes by the Blues as he faced 11 shots. He made three clearances and five saves to keep a clean sheet. The goalkeeper was adjudged Hero of the Match.

Costa Nhamoinesu

Kerala Blasters FC defender Costa Nhamoinesu’s all-round show against Jamshedpur FC has earned him a spot in the team of the week. The Zimbabwean defender scored the opening goal and made a whopping 14 clearances in the match to help Kerala Blasters to their second win of Hero ISL 2020-21.

Gaurav Bora

Gaurav Bora makes his first appearance in the team of the week after a gritty showing against Chennaiyin FC. Bora was rock-solid in defence for Odisha FC, clearing the ball six times and intercepting it thrice. The goalless draw against the Marina Machans earned Odisha FC a welcome point. 

Amey Ranawade

Amey Ranawade delivered another solid performance at the back as Mumbai City kept a clean sheet to beat ATK Mohun Bagan by a solitary goal. The Indian defender made two successful tackles, three blocks, a clearance and four successful interceptions. He had 74 touches of the ball and finished with a passing accuracy of 72%.

Hugo Boumous

The Mumbai playmaker provided the all-important assist for Mumbai City during their win over ATK Mohun Bagan. Hugo Boumous’ delightful backheel to Bartholomew Ogbeche helped the Islanders break the deadlock and he was a constant threat on the pitch, creating three chances in the game.

Matti Steinmann            

Matti Steinmann gave SC East Bengal a first half lead against Bengaluru FC, which proved to be enough to earn them all three points. Apart from the all-important goal, the German midfielder had 53 touches of the ball and made three successful tackles for his side.

Federico Gallego

Even though NorthEast United FC went down fighting against Hyderabad FC, it’s worth noting that playmaker Federico Gallego was a constant threat in the final third. Gallego calmly converted a penalty to score his first goal of the season and created three more opportunities for his team.

Rowllin Borges

Rowllin Borges put in another tidy display in midfield for Mumbai City to help them control the match against ATK Mohun Bagan. He finished the match with an impressive passing accuracy of 89% and made four successful tackles, four successful interceptions and two clearances.

Jordan Murray 

Jordan Murray scored two goals in quick succession to put Kerala Blasters in a position of strength against Jamshedpur FC. The forward made the most of the opposition’s defensive lapses, taking six shots in total besides also creating an opportunity for his teammates. The brace earned him the Hero of the Match award and took his tally to five goals this season.

Joel Chianese   

Hero of the Match Joel Chianese doubled Hyderabad FC’s lead against NorthEast United FC in the 36th minute after providing the assist for their first goal. The forward registered two shots on target and also created a chance.

Facundo Pereyra             

Kerala Blasters’ Facundo Pereyra played a vital role in the win against Jamshedpur FC by providing two assists. The Argentine also created three chances for his teammates besides taking three shots himself. Defensively, he made a successful tackle, one clearance, one successful interception and two blocks.
