With the final whistle blown on the Techno Aryan vs Tollygunge Agragami match, the 2015 season of Calcutta Football League [CFL] came to an end on Tuesday. However, the winners of the league, East Bengal, had already been decided a week ago.The last few days of the league saw quite a few low-scoring games – the only matches with a ‘surge’ in goals were Techno Aryan vs. Police A.C. [2-4] and Mohun Bagan vs. Kalighat MS [4-1]. Techno Aryan ended the league in unique fashion with three consecutive draws against Mohammedan Sporting, Mohun Bagan and Tollygunge respectively.East Bengal took the top spot for the sixth consecutive season, with Army XI and Mohun Bagan fixing themselves at second and third respectively. BNR FC ended their campaign languishing at the bottom of the league with not a single win to their name.South Korean attacker Do Dong-Hyun ended up with 12 goals for East Bengal and bagged the top goal-scorer award, while Southern Samity’s Waheed scored six goals to be behind Dong-hyun. There were a lot of contenders at ‘5 goals’ – Dudu Omagbemi, Katsumi Yusa [Mohun Bagan], Snehashish Chakrabarty [Southern Samity], Christopher Chizoba [Kalighat MS] and Eric Brown [Police A.C.].The tournament was marked by some special performances - besides ex-NorthEast United FC player Dong-Hyun, former Atlético de Kolkata midfielder Mohammed Rafique, ex-FC Pune City striker Dudu Omagbemi and Chennaiyin FC winger Harmanjot Khabra also stole the show at some point of the league.
