Gameweek 4 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 witnessed the likes of FC Goa, Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC register their first wins of the season. Jamshedpur’s win against ATK Mohun Bagan ended the Kolkata giants’ perfect start to the season. Meanwhile, NorthEast United FC remained unbeaten with their second win of the season. Two sides that remained winless after the past gameweek, though, are Odisha FC and Kerala Blasters FC following losses to Mumbai City FC and FC Goa respectively. Here are some of the highlights from the past gameweek.

FC Goa, Bengaluru register first wins of Hero ISL 2020-21

After a loss and two draws in their first three games of Hero ISL 2020-21, FC Goa got their first win of the season thanks to a 3-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC. Two goals from Igor Angulo and one from Jorge Mendoza ensured a victory for the Gaurs in what was a solid all-round performance by Juan Ferrando’s men.

Like Goa, Bengaluru too registered their first win of the season after a hard-fought win against Chennaiyin FC. It was a second half penalty converted by skipper Sunil Chhetri that helped his side to a crucial victory against their southern rivals and the Blues will be hoping that the win can kickstart their season.

NorthEast United FC continue their strong start

NorthEast United FC continued their solid start to Hero ISL 2020-21 with a 2-0 win over SC East Bengal. An own goal from Surchandra Singh and a late goal from Rochharzela was enough to secure a win over the Kolkata-based club. The Highlanders have now won two of their four games this campaign and have kept two clean sheets as well. Their opening goal against SC East Bengal was also their 100th in the Hero ISL.

Mumbai City FC win three straight matches

After a disappointing start to the season with a 1-0 loss to NorthEast United FC, Sergio Lobera’s men have found their scoring boots and secured a third straight victory over the weekend. They beat Odisha FC 2-0 on Sunday and have now scored six goals in their last three matches. The Islanders will also be buoyed with a first goal in new colours for Bartholomew Ogbeche, who scored from the spot to help his side open the scoring in their win over Odisha.

ATK Mohun Bagan suffer first defeat of the season

After winning their first three games, ATK Mohun Bagan fell to their first loss of the season against Jamshedpur. Goals from Nerijus Valskis in each half put Jamshedpur in a position of strength but ATK Mohun Bagan didn’t go down without a fight. A goal from Roy Krishna reduced the deficit and set up a dramatic finish that saw Jamshedpur clinging on to their lead in the closing stages. In the end, a combination of robust defending and top saves by the goalkeeper was enough for Jamshedpur to hold on to their lead and condemn ATK Mohun Bagan to their first loss of the campaign.
