The two football titans of India clashed twice so far this season in the Indian Super League, both matches ending on level terms.
The encounters between the Islanders and the Gaurs have been quite an interesting affair so far in the Indian Super League (ISL), with Mumbai City FC winning 10 out of their 24 encounters, while FC Goa securing seven wins, drawing the remaining matches.
However, this season, there has been very little to set apart the two teams as they are set to meet in the two-legged semi-final tie.
Mumbai City FC and FC Goa met twice this season in the league stage of the ISL 2023-24 season, sharing points on both occasions.

Both FC Goa and Mumbai City FC took the pitch unbeaten and fresh from victories over Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC, respectively.
The two teams battled a highly competitive tie in their first encounter of the season, concluding the match in a goalless draw.
Although the fixture ended in a stalemate, there were quite a few chances for both sides to take home a win. FC Goa attempted five shots compared to Mumbai City FC’s seven but neither team managed to send the ball into the net.

As the two teams faced off again in the league, the fans witnessed yet another draw, this time with a 1-1 scoreline.
After a goalless first half, it was Mumbai City FC who opened the scoring through the legs of Vikram Partap Singh right after the start of the second half. In the 61st minute of the match, Mohammad Yasir levelled the scores, concluding the match 1-1 at full time.
With both teams taking the pitch eyeing the League Shield, the match witnessed a barrage of chances as FC Goa attempted 14 shots compared to Mumbai City FC’s 10 shots.
But in terms of possession, it was another Mumbai City FC domination as the Islanders finished the match with 58% possession.

Mumbai City FC staged a remarkable comeback against FC Goa in the first leg of the second semi-final, where the Islanders scored three goals in six minutes despite being trailed by two goals till the 89th minute.
For the Garus, Boris Singh scored the opener in the 16th minute, while captain Brandon Fernandes doubled their lead with his fantastic strike from the edge of the box. However, Kratky's men held their nerves till the very last, displaying a never-say-die attitude that propelled Mumbai City FC to get the better of Manolo Marquez's side in Goa.
Lallianzuala Chhangte netted a brace, while Vikram Partap Singh hit the target once, registering a remarkable victory for the Islanders in the opening leg of the second semi-final.
