ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC are set to lock horns in the final of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season on Saturday, March 18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.

As we wait for a mouthwatering summit clash to decide who wins the coveted Hero ISL trophy, the race for Hero ISL’s Golden Boot award will also be at stake.

The Golden Boot is one of the significant individual honours that is awarded to the player with the most goals in the tournament. If two or more players are tied on the number of goals scored, then the winner is decided by who played the fewest minutes in the tournament (i.e. the player with the best minutes-per-goal ratio).

Having scored 12 goals from 21 games, Diego Mauricio of Odisha FC is currently leading the Golden Boot race for this season. East Bengal forward Cleiton Silva also has the same number of goals but is second on the list as he has played more minutes in the tournament than his compatriot from Odisha FC.

Apart from Mauricio, ATK Mohun Bagan forward Dimitri Petratos is also in the fray in the race to win the Golden Boot. The Australian forward has netted 10 goals in the competition so far and he will need to score at least three goals in the final to overtake Mauricio to win the Golden Boot.
