Jamshedpur FC ended their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 campaign with a resounding 5-1 victory over Bengaluru FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday. A flurry of second-half goals from Michael Soosairaj, Pablo Morgado and Carlos Calvo sealed the victory for the hosts after Semboi Haokip and Augustin Fernandes scored to cancel each other out in the first-half. Xisco Hernandez failed to convert a penalty in the 26th minute of the match.

At the post-match press conference, Jamshedpur head coach Cesar Ferrando addressed the media for the last time this season. "In the first-half, we suffered a lot and gave away an easy goal. We could have conceded three goals. They were awarded a penalty which they didn’t convert. We recovered in the second-half and played very well. We deserved to win this match. We showed that we could have been in the top four. We converted the chances we created," he summarised the night.

Asked if he will be back with Jamshedpur next season, Ferrando replied, "I don’t know yet. When the proposal comes, I will consider it and take my decision. We haven’t discussed the plans for next year yet."

The Spaniard also took the opportunity to express his admiration for the city of Jamshedpur, where he spent the last eight months at. "I am really happy to be here, I like this city a lot. Even my family came down and even they liked this place. The people here are nice and I am happy staying in Jamshedpur," he stated.

From Bengaluru’s end, head coach Carles Cuadrat took questions from the media. He was all praise for the opponents on the night and lauded them for the impressive display. "Jamshedpur are a very good team. We had a lot of problems against them at home. We were close to getting three points against them earlier in the season, but they scored in the last minute to make it 2-2. They showed that they are competitive and that they are having a very good season. They were saving their goals for tonight," he said.

Cuadrat rested eight first team regulars on the night, opting to field a very new-look and inexperienced starting XI. Talking about his young squad and their takeaways from the match, Cuadrat commented, "I can tell you that Edmund Lalrindika has learned a lot today. I knew that we could have come here and lost badly. But I can do it because I have enough points. These players have to play against Tiri, Memo and they have to improve. I have to say a very big thank you to the rest of the players who have been helping them."
