Jamshedpur FC secured a 3-2 win over Bengaluru FC in Match 106 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Thursday. Three first-half goals secured the three points for Jamshedpur FC, although the Blues did stage a fightback in the second half with two goals of their own.

At the post-match press conference, Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle was delighted with the performance of his team. “The important thing is to win the three points. This is a tough league to win games as every match shows. We finished the season with four wins out of [last] six. We showed our qualities with three goals. We could have added more. That being said, Bengaluru FC are a good team with good players and they came fighting back,” he said.

Jamshedpur FC finished the season in sixth place and Coyle shared some positives from their season. “We can take some positives from this season, but there are also areas that we need to get better at. I know where we need to improve and what we need to do,” he said.

“We have improved a lot. When you look at the quality of the games that we have played [compared to the last season], there is no doubt that the improvement is there for everyone to see.”

Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC interim head coach Naushad Moosa spoke about his decision to field the young guns of the Blues. “The idea was to give the youngsters some playing time but it did not work out the way we expected. We conceded three goals and that is why we had to make those changes in the second half,” he said.

Moosa brought on Erik Paartalu and Francisco Gonzalez after the halftime break and the latter scored Bengaluru FC’s first goal as well before Sunil Chettri got another. Speaking about these changes, Moosa said, “It was important to make those two changes. I was confident that we would get the goals. We had to keep pressing and we got the goals. We were almost there; we had a few close chances but it was not possible [eventually to get a favourable result].”
