SC East Bengal head coach Jose Manuel Diaz was pleased with his team’s performance in the 1-1 draw against Hyderabad FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) encounter at the Athletic stadium in Bambolim, Goa on Thursday.

SC East Bengal took the lead in the match through Amir Dervisevic but were pegged back by Bartholomew Ogbeche’s goal.

The Red and Gold brigade had good chances in the first half to score more goals but they didn’t have their scoring boots on.

The draw means SC East Bengal remain bottom of the table.

Diaz addressed the media after the match and here are the excerpts from his post-match press conference:

Did you feel you could get one point against Hyderabad FC considering they have been in good form this season?

We want to win every match. Hyderabad FC were in very good shape today as they are a very good team. But we did a very good job. We scored one goal, we had a one-on-one with the goalkeeper and we hit the crossbar. So, I'm happy with the performance of the team.

Your team had momentum after scoring the goal. Did you feel you should have taken advantage of that?

We should have been 2-0 up but they scored with a cross.

What are the positives that you take out of this match?

The players performed well in a tough match. The squad was made by the board. We didn't take any decisions with respect to the squad. Everyday we are working hard to improve our level.

Was it one of the best matches you played from a tactical point of view?

We have had four draws and in similar circumstances like today. It was a good job from the players today. In this match I think we made fewer mistakes compared to other matches.
