Sunil Chhetri will be putting on the famous Bengaluru FC shirt for the 150th time in his career when he steps on the field against Delhi Dynamos FC on Monday. It will be a special moment for the home fans who will get to watch their beloved captain reach the special milestone at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Chhetri has been a talisman for the Bengaluru club for over five years and has been the centre-piece to their many exploits in and outside India. The 34-year-old donned the Bengaluru crest for the first time in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) in the 2017-18 season and had a highly successful campaign, leading his team to the final.

The Blues were unlucky not to have lifted the trophy losing out the Chennaiyin FC in the final, but their introduction to the Hero ISL was special, and so was Chhetri. He scored a whopping 14 goals in 21 appearances for the Blues last season and went on to win the Hero of the League award.

It took Chhetri little time to shrug off the disappointment of the loss in the Hero ISL final and he played an integral part in Bengaluru's triumph in the Hero Super Cup 2018. Chhetri was also the top scorer in the tournament with six goals.

Bengaluru have made a scintillating start to Hero ISL 2018-19 and are already being tipped as one of the favourites this season. The Blues are the only undefeated side this season so far and Chhetri has been right at the centre of their exploits. The ace striker has already netted five times in six matches and is just two goals away from equalling Iain Hume's all-time record of 28 goals in the league. Given the magnitude of the occasion, it would take a brave man to bet against the 34-year-old finding himself on the score sheet against Delhi.
