Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle believes the quality of Greg Stewart and the young Indian players in his team enabled his side to put up a dominant display against Odisha FC as they defeated them 4-0 in match 29 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 at Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco da Gama on Tuesday.

Jamshedpur FC took an early lead through a powerful header by Peter Hartley from a corner whipped in by Greg Stewart. By the 35th minute, Stewart had completed his hat trick to make it 4-0 and seal the deal. Odisha FC came back strongly in the second half but couldn’t manage to get themselves on the scoresheet.

In the backdrop of Jamshedpur FC’s victory over Odisha FC, coach Coyle spoke to the media in the official post-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

Did the 4-0 scoreline within 35 minutes bring you relief?

We deserved to be 4-0 up because of the quality of the goals and the chances we created. We were outstanding from the first goal. The intensity we played at and the finishing was clinical. That’s what we need moving forward. If we are as clinical as we were tonight that would stand us in good stead.

Apart from Stewart’s hat-trick what were the other positives from the match?

I think there were loads. The skipper’s goal in the opening minutes. It was important we got a clean sheet. The young Indian players Boris and Rutwik came off the bench and did well. I am happy with all the young Indian players.

Do you think a player like Stewart would adapt and settle so quickly in the ISL?

Yeah I knew that that’s why I brought him. I am not saying it because of today’s game. If you look at my past interviews I told everyone about the impact he would have at Jamshedpur FC. Not just with goals but overall quality of play. He is a tremendous addition to the squad.

Is Alex Lima injury only negative to come out of the game?

Yes. Alex was running the midfield and controlling the game. The last thing you want is a player getting injured. So let’s hope it’s nothing serious.
