Hyderabad FC’s first-ever home match at the G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium will see them welcome Kerala Blasters FC on Saturday. The newcomers haven’t quite enjoyed a healthy start to their inaugural Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) campaign, losing both their opening matches whilst conceding eight goals.
Ahead of the fixture, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Hyderabad striker, Robin Singh for an exclusive pre-match interview. Here are the excerpts:
On the mood in the Hyderabad FC camp for the match against Kerala Blasters FC.
Kerala Blasters FC have their own tactics. We have our own. We are preparing for this match just like any other match, we want to get three points out of it. Yes, it hasn’t been the best of starts. It just takes one match to change all of that. That’s the beauty of football. It’s always harsh losing (a match). But that hasn’t changed our mental aspect. We’re all positive. We’re all sticking together, which is very important. As I said, it just takes one game to turn it all around.
On how the squad is coping with injuries to star players?
I think everyone is equal – foreign and Indian players alike. Yes, there have been injuries, but that’s part and parcel of the game. We’ve moved forward and let’s see what the strategies we’ll be using against (Kerala Blasters FC).
How prepared is the team for their first home match of Hero ISL 2019-20 season?
I think it’s going to be an exciting match. First home match in Hyderabad and the crowd will be looking forward to it. We’ve been looking forward to it.Let the clock tick and I hope the kick-off comes sooner.
What challenges are Hyderabad FC facing in the ongoing campaign?
Everyday there’s a new challenge. You go into each day wanting to challenge yourself and for us as footballers that’s the same thing. We go into training, wanting to challenge ourselves every day. And as for the challenges in the season, yes, we want to get a win under our belt (as soon as possible)
