Hero Indian Super League (ISL) debutants Bengaluru FC’s only loss so far has come against FC Goa when the Blues visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium a couple of weeks ago. It turned out to be a topsy-turvy thriller, which in the end was won by the Gaurs courtesy of a 4-3 score-line. One of the major talking points of the match was Bengaluru custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu’s sending off, after contact from the Indian shot-stopper sent Manuel Lanzarote to the floor. Sandhu was shown a straight red and banned for two games as a consequence. Twitter flooded with supporters voicing their opinion on the incident. Here are what some passionate fans had to say.
Some people were not at all sympathetic!
This deed is shameful. Well deserved Red Card for Gurpreet.

By the way Coro scored again.
2-1 it is. #GOABEN

Doesn't look like Football😂😂
Deserving Red card#GOABEN #ISL #LETSFOOTBALL
Red card for the goalie Gurpreet. Wah you can never do that on a Football pitch! #GOABEN

There were some who came out in strong support for the custodian though.
I think that red card was shown to Gurpreet for being just too big for the goal player, they both went into each other with the same intent. Lame decision #GOABEN @bengalurufc

Red card too harsh on Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and BFC? #isl #goaben #blues

Others believed Lanzarote got away easily.
What @GurpreetGK did was a moment of madness but if you stepped on me like this, I would get pretty mad too. Lanzarote should've seen Red, ref should've pulled back the play & should've awarded a free kick to @bengalurufc & a Red card to Gurpreet for retaliating. #HeroISL #GOABEN pic.twitter.com/CEhYoaOGUa

Can someone pls explain why Juan Johnson Erik and Rahul were so clumsy in the first half? Always out of position. Did the too much pressing backfire? @Gurpreet u r much much better than that man. Someone pls explain how that was a penalty? Red card is fine

Another talking point about the incident was if it was a penalty since it was an off the ball altercation.
What about your Goalkeeper Gurpreet? #GOABEN

Bengaluru, however, have coped well in one of the two matches Sandhu is banned for (a 1-0 victory away to NorthEast United FC). They will also have to do without him when the Blues visit FC Pune City for the first game of match week 5 on Thursday.
