Robin Singh played a crucial role in FC Goa’s spirited comeback that saw them defeat NorthEast United FC 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Friday evening. The win was their first home win in Hero Indian Super League 2016 and gives Goa a fighting chance of making the semis. NorthEast took the lead in the 50th minute before Robin equalised for the Gaurs shortly after the hour mark. The hosts then had Sahil Tavora sent off after he received a second yellow. However, that didn’t prevent Romeo Fernandes from scoring the winner deep into injury time with Robin providing the assist. The 26-year-old striker spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game and shared his thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.First win at home. How does it feel?It feels great to have three points at home. Fans came out for a great game and god bless, we gave them a great game. This is your first goal of the season, many critics were not pleased with your performance. Do you believe this goal has silenced them?I never play for the critics, I play for those who love me. I think there is plenty more to come, I was in the right place at the right time and thanks to my team-mates I scored. I would like to put it this way, Romeo gave me a goal and I gave him a goal. But as I said there is plenty more to come not only from me but from the whole team. Two more matches at home, what can we expect from them? This game is done and dusted, now we look forward to the next game. I hope for more goals and more wins for the team.
